The Human Soul

The First Birth

When it becomes time for a spirit to individuate, the Divine Mother opens, and the spirit leaves the Great Merging on a journey of self-discovery. Guided by its Birth Guardian, it flows within the energetic waves of the Birth Gateway toward its conception, where the boundaries of form will support its growth and awakening. Once the spirit is received by its human mother, cellular division sets in motion. The blastocyst becomes an embryo. The embryo becomes a fetus. And eventually, the fetus becomes a newborn baby.

The Second Birth

Within the center of each spirit lives the seed of its soul. Both are consciousness, yet when a spirit is incarnated, the soul becomes its own Being with distinct functions.

During the embryonic phase of human development, the unique soul-seed begins growing at the top of the embryo’s head, the crown chakra. As the embryo curls forward, 

it flexes deeply, from its crown to its forehead, to its face, and finally, when its mouth touches the growing body chamber, the soul-seed is born out of the crown and directly into the center of the chamber.

Soul as Heart

In just three weeks, the heart, which is the first organ to form, begins to beat. Did you know that the heart generates the most powerful and extensive electromagnetic field of the human body? That it controls and monitors cell development and cellular integration? Some say it has its own awareness and is the greatest aspect of human consciousness. Our hearts, the central source of Human Life, are the physical manifestation of our souls.

The Third Birth

The newborn baby emerges from its mother.

Soul as Container

The soul is a multi-layered container for a spirit when the spirit is embodied. Located in the center of the chest, what I call the heart/soul space, the soul emanates out and surrounds us like a large energy bubble. Its multi-layers are mirror-like and reflect in and out—from its outermost etheric layers to the densest—the physical body.

Some call the soul “aura,” but the aura is just a part of the soul. Others call the soul an energy bubble or the human energy field.

Soul as Energy

Once upon a time, in our spirit/human beginnings, the energy of our soul was translucent, and the bright light of our spirit radiated out of our bodies. As a result of experiences during past and present incarnations, pockets of cloudy, gray, heavy energy began to fill what had originally been translucent spaces. Why would this occur?

Trauma. Unhealthy beliefs. Emotional wounds. Vows. Unresolved karma. Other people’s energy. Spiritual amnesia.

The landscape of the human soul affects our physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Soul as Living Library

Ever since we began our cycles of reincarnation, our individuated souls have been taking in and storing memories for our spirit consciousness. I call this a Living Library. Our souls contain everything from past lives to just a minute ago, and until unhealthy patterns of living are resolved and healing is complete in any particular area, they can be found within this Living Library. Once healed, the awakened knowledge becomes part of the spirit’s direct knowing, and soulular luminance is restored.

Soul as Protector

Soul acts as a universal mother for the human heart. When we experience trauma, our soul protects us by separating. Psychology calls this dissociation. Shamanism calls this soul loss. Shamanic Soul Retrieval is a potent healing modality that allows the shaman to locate dissociated, lost parts and heal and restore them to the soul. This transmutes lingering heavy, restores translucence to the soul, and enhances our health and happiness.

Can we trust the layers of our soul to unfold, restructure, and re-harmonize at a rate that best serves us? Our egos might have strong ideas, but the wisdom of our nurturing mother and her inherent protective nature determine what is best. Unfortunately, some of us are so wounded that the slow path to healing is fast enough. Memories that arise too quickly can re-fracture a person and cause more harm than good. It serves to have patience in the Divine flow, always trusting that our best interests are served.

Soul as Breath

The soul expands and contracts daily. Visualize a pristine place in nature. Breathe into your heart/soul space. How do you feel? Is your soul expanded or contracted? Imagine something frightening. What is the state of your soul now? Joy, love, serenity, unity, gratitude, and happiness are a few refined energetic states that become nectar for our blossoming souls.

The Collective Human Soul

Ezekiel said, Each individuated human soul has a unique imprint, energetic signature, and vibrational current, and all combine to create the dynamic of the collective human soul. Everything individual affects the collective.

In addition to our individuated souls belonging to and making up the collective human soul, there are many other forms of soulular unity. If you are in a committed relationship with someone, you are a part of a “we soul.” There is the “family soul.” The “twin soul.” The “community soul.” And on and on. Each of these energy bubbles unifies us, and all are part of the collective, the greatest unifier of all.

The Four-Petaled Flower is a beautiful symbol of this collective unification, where each unique petal comes together at center to radiate as one.

A Divine Partnership

The human soul lives in two worlds, spirit and human, and serves as a bridge that connects and supports both. It grounds us in our bodies. Acts as a sieve for pain and suffering. Protects our hearts and minds. Serves as a library of our incarnational history. And aids our human survival.

A spirit/human being needs a soul to facilitate its evolution, and that soul is in constant refinement.

When all necessary teachings are learned and absorbed, and we remember who we are—Conscious, Loving Light—incarnating on Earth will be an option, not a necessity. I believe the awakening process is about service. Have you noticed that as you heal and remember your divinity, your compassion grows? This is part of being human.

The Fourth Birth

The soul no longer has a body to be concerned about when we die, so once again it becomes a seed within its spirit, and the spirit/soul partnership returns to the Divine Mother to continue its cycle of spiritual awakening.

An Overview

Ezekiel said, As one moves through and completes its cycle of spirit/soul evolution, one becomes a co-worker within the spiritual realms and is able to assist others in the awakening of consciousness.

This is what the masters do—Buddha. Jesus. Mohammed. Mother Mary—beings who have evolved past the need to incarnate but do so in service to others. Right now, there are people sitting in caves meditating for us. Buddhists call these Bodhisattvas. There’s the spirit in the form of your neighbor’s autistic daughter, whose joyful laughter reminds us of love every day. The disabled man at the grocery store who inspires compassion every time we see him. The homeless woman on the corner asking for change reminds us that All are One.

All of us are spirits, masters, healers, teachers, and shamans of the Light, with individuated souls that create the dynamic of the collective human soul. The illusion of separation is strong on Earth, and I believe it is our task to Live Unity. When a person sees me for a Healing Ceremony, joins me on a Spiritual Travel journey, or participates in a class, I always thank them for doing their part to heal and unify the human soul.

This gorgeous book is a gift to the world from someone who walks the path of the wounded healer. As a friend of the author, I watched this book get birthed, though it’s gestation was many many years in the making, and included painful and difficult experiences, unique encounters and adventures, and a deep opening and surrendering to the mystical realities of who we humans really are–spirits having an earthly experience. This birthed gift comes from the very depths and soul of a woman who has not shied away from facing head on her own pain and wounding and seeking out her own healing. As a healer, one of Annie’s gifts lies in her willingness to lovingly walk side by side with anyone willing to face their own traumas and wounding. Annie’s essence permeates the pages of this beautiful book, as does the essence of her artist friend Emily Grieves, whose stunning artwork weaves its own lyrical spell. I read this book over the course of one week, and it was a wonderful journey from start to finish. I took this book on vacation and it turned into the guidebook for my own personal spiritual retreat! Annie is obviously a talent healer. Reading the stories of some of her many clients was very inspiring. I have bookmarked many of the pages that have exercises that can be repeated. The “questions for reflection” were excellent prompts for journaling! Highly recommend this book!

I came to know Annie when I was searching online for a Shamanic healer in my area. Little did I know that I was about to receive one of the biggest blessings of my life.
